Nothing says “Christmas” like candy canes! This Candy Cane Fudge Pie uses those scrumptious holiday treats, peppermint ice cream, hot fudge, whipped topping, and stroopwafel pie crust to give you all the signature flavors of Christmas in one dessert!
How to Make Candy Cane Fudge Pie
Prep Time: 20 min
Total Time: 4 hours and 20 minutes (needs at least 4 hours to freeze before serving)
Serves 8
Ingredients
- 2 cups No-Bake Stroopwafel Pie Crust for crust
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter for crust
- 1 1/2 gallon peppermint ice cream
- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
- 1 jar hot fudge
- 1 16 oz whip topping
Instructions
Prepare the Crust
- Set out peppermint ice cream so it softens while you make your crust.
- Mix 2 cups of No-Bake Stroopwafel Pie Crust with 6 tbsp of melted unsalted butter.
- Transfer to a 9” pie pan and press the mixture down with the back of a spoon until firm.
- Add filling - you really don’t need to bake this crust before adding the filling!
Add the Filling
- Spread the softened ice cream and extra crushed candy canes if desired over the pie crust (we recommend making it without extra candy canes for your first try, as there’s plenty of peppermint flavor in this recipe for most people).
- Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for 2 hours.
- Remove from the freezer.
- Warm hot fudge and spread over top of ice cream.
- Top with whipped cream and crushed candy canes.
Final Steps
- Wrap again and freeze for at least 2 more hours.
- Remove from the freezer and allow it to soften slightly on the counter before cutting.
Make and Freeze in Advance
This recipe is served frozen, which means it’s one of the easiest recipes to make in advance and freeze! The best part is, each package of our No-Bake Stroopwafel Pie Crust comes with enough crumbs to make 2 9” pie crusts. So, if you’re preparing for a big gathering, you can easily create two beautiful ice cream pies with matching or distinct flavor pairings (see more flavor combos below).
Mix and Match Flavors
You can easily adjust this recipe by changing the ice cream and toppings to suit your taste buds. Ice cream and topping recommendations are…
- Peppermint Ice Cream and Candy Cane (the original recipe!)
- Peppermint Ice Cream and Chocolate Shavings (for those who want less peppermint)
- Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream with Candy Cane Topping
- Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream with Andes Mint Topping
- Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream with Crushed Oreo Topping
- Peppermint, Vanilla, or Chocolate Ice Cream with Any Nut Topping
- Peppermint, Vanilla, or Chocolate Ice Cream with Extra Stroopwafel Crust Topping
- Mint Chip Ice Cream with Andes Mint Topping or Chocolate Shavings
Serve with a Warm Beverage
Because this is a cold dessert, we recommend serving it with a warm beverage like coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. If you want a drink that complements the stroopwafel crust, try our stroopwafel coffee.
